Honey Survey 2010
Dear Beekeeper
South East Honey Survey 2010 In previous years you have been good enough to fill in a honey survey form and this year I am, as usual, asking for information on honey yields and prices in the South East region.
This year was wet over the winter and early spring but very hot and dry in the summer leading to heavy honey flows being reported in some areas
I now have honey statistics for the SE region going back to 2004 and it proves an interesting exercise to make comparisons over the years.
As always, personal information is kept secure but average honey yields and prices are passed to defra, which form part of the annual statistics for food production. The more information you, as beekeepers, can supply to defra about the size and value of the honey crop and therefore by implication the value of honeybees to the economy in terms of pollination etc, the easier it will to support claims for further investment in the bee health/research budget. I would be grateful if you could fill in the attached simple form and return to me as before.
I will, as usual write up the results and send out a report later in the year. Thanking you in advance for your help
Regards Alan Byham
